FAQ
These questions are just some of the most commonly asked questions that we hear. We have done our best to answer them in an honest and helpful way. Please do not hesitate to email or phone with any questions you may have.
What is a pastor?
A pastor is a new testament appointee that presides as a principal teacher to feed a local congregation.
Are you a “prosperity” church?
We believe in true Biblical prosperity which is to find one's purpose and calling and then to fulfil it enthusiastically. Therefore I have to answer yes to the question. Who does not want to prosper and do well? The term “prosperity church” has become a negative expression because of examples of individuals who abuse the bible’'s message for their own self gain. We believe the blessing of God makes one successful. (Proverbs 10:22) We do not believe in excess or extortion. When your cup overflows, it is to share and provide for you and your family and also to help the poor and needy.
What is the difference between your church and the traditional church in Ireland (e.g. the Catholic church)?
The word Catholic actually means ‘Universal’ and in the bible the church was originally the representation of all the believers as one universal church, under one God. Different interpretations of biblical doctrines have since divided the church into the many branches of Christianity we hear of today and see in the traditions followed. Our church would follow the format and traditions of the early church in the Bible.
Do you use the same bible as the Catholic church?
Yes. However, the traditional Catholic bible has an additional 14 books that were added by the council of Trent in 1506, called the Apocrypha. These books are not included in the customary bible used by most churches, including ours.
Do you have to be a Christian to go to your church?
No. Everyone is welcome to attend services and everyone is invited to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Do I have to be a “member” to attend services?
No. Everyone is welcome. There no “members” of Abundant Life, we are all members of the Christian Church at large.
Can I still attend the Catholic church and your church?
Yes. Simple faith in Jesus, is what qualifies you as a Christian, not the works that we do or the places we attend. Everyone needs to find a church where their faith in Jesus will grow through safe biblical teaching and where their relationship with God is built up.
Is it the same God as the Catholic church?
Yes, it is the same God. The difference is in the approach. The bible teaches that we can approach God directly, offering prayer to no one else but to God Himself, though Jesus, the only true intermediary. 1 Timothy 2:5 "“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus."”
Are there other churches like yours?
Yes, there are many evangelical churches in Ireland. If you are looking for a church in your area, contact the Evangelical Alliance of Ireland.
Do you serve communion?
Yes, we serve communion at every service.
Why did you come to Ireland?
My wife & I feel that God has brought us to Ireland. A lot of people have lost faith in God and don’t realise that God is real & has a good plan.
Who are you associated with?
We are affiliated with Abundant Life Ministries of National Destiny, who have churches all over Ireland.
What do you believe about the sacraments?
Some churches put the communion implements central at the altar because their service and practice of faith are based on sacraments. Other churches have the pulpit at the centre because they are word based & have the bible as the centrepiece of their service and practice of faith.
However, we believe both are important. The bible is central to knowing truth & growing spiritually. The bible based sacraments including Holy Communion, Water Baptism, are central to a strong faith.
What is a baby dedication?
It is a special time for new parents to say thank you to God for their great blessing. It is a time of prayer and blessing over the little baby. It is also a time for commitments on the part of the parents to raise their child in a Christian manner.
